We can now give a full update following the current government guidance, released in the early hours of this morning, regarding eligibility for the school care as of Monday 23rd March 2020. The guidance is that children with at least one parent or carer who are identified as critical workers by the government can potentially send their children to school if required. However, we must emphasise that the government guidance states that “many parents working in these critical sectors may be able to ensure their child is kept at home. Every child who can be safely cared for at home should be.” This comment is s response to the need for social distancing. This is an offer to parents and carers and there is no requirement for parents and carers to send their children to school if they do not need or wish to do so.
I will be sending an email to all parents that yesterday identified themselves as key workers to gather more information about the provision they require over the next two weeks. If you do not receive this email in the next hour but need to access the provision for key workers please contact the office as a matter of urgency. It is crucial that we have the staff in place to provide a safe provision for those that require this.
